CONCIERGERIE The Conciergerie was part of the medieval Royal Palace which was converted during the French Revolution to a place of detention for members of the Upper Estates. This was the final abode of Queen Marie Antoinette before she was sent to the guillotine. Today it is a tranquil place and the current exhibition during our visit was the "THE SLEEPING CHAPTER" OF THÉO MERCIER featuring sand statues of sleeping dogs and decrepit bedding items. The Conciergerie is located immediately next to St. Chappelle (and the functioning Palace of Justice). October 15, 2022 |
